How Gilwise works
Gilwise turns live market board prices into a short daily plan for making gil in FINAL FANTASY XIV: what to buy, where, how many, and what to list it at.
Getting started
- Create an account with your email, or sign in with Discord.
- The setup asks for your home world, the city where you sell (this sets the market tax), your retainers' names, your current gil and your gil goal, your time zone, and optionally your crafting and gathering job levels.
- Gilwise runs its first scan. A full scan takes about one to two minutes.
Gilwise supports North American worlds for now. Europe, Japan and Oceania are coming later.
You never give Gilwise your game password, and it never touches the game itself. There are no mods or bots.
Where the prices come from
Prices come from Universalis, a free community project. Its data is updated whenever a player with the Universalis uploader opens a market board in game. That means each item's numbers are only as fresh as the last time someone looked at it, so every card shows how old its board data is (for example "board seen 3 h ago"). If something looks off, open that item on the market board in game; the next scan will pick up the fresh prices.
Scans
A scan reads prices for every tradeable item on your world and the other worlds in your data center, then builds your plan. Scans run every 60 minutes while the Gilwise tab is open and visible, or press Scan now at any time. Your own listings are rechecked every 15 minutes in between.
Today's plan
Your plan is built from your gil (minus the amount you keep in reserve) and your free retainer slots. It is an ordered route:
- Fix your current listings. Undercut where it is worth it, and act on stock that has not sold for a week.
- Shopping stops. NPC vendors first (with the exact map spot and menu), then market boards on your world and other worlds.
- Gather and craft, if crafting is part of today's plan.
- List everything at a summoning bell, at the prices shown.
Tick items off as you go. Ticking a Buy or Craft step records the purchase in your Ledger, so your profit is tracked when it sells.
Buy at vendors
Items an NPC sells cheaply that sell for much more on the market board. Each card shows the NPC, the zone and map coordinates, the shop menu, how many to buy, what to list at and the profit after tax.
Other worlds
Items that are cheaper on another world in your data center. Use World Visit at a city aetheryte, buy at or under the maximum price shown, return home and list. Before buying, check your home board: the card tells you when to skip it.
Crafting
Add your crafting and gathering levels in Settings. Gilwise looks at every recipe you can make and shows the ones that sell for well above their material cost. You can choose how costs are worked out:
- Buy every material.
- Craft in-between parts when cheaper, such as leather or ingots.
- Also count materials you gather as free, using your Miner, Botanist and Fisher levels.
Turn on "I can make High Quality (HQ) items" if you can reliably make HQ; HQ items often sell for much more.
My listings and sales
For every item on your watch list, Gilwise finds your listings on the board by your retainers' names and tells you whether to hold, undercut or drop. It can only see items on your watch list. A sale is recorded when one of your listings disappears and a sale at the same price and quantity shows up in the public board history. That is very likely your sale, but not certain: if you take a listing down at the same time someone else sells an identical one, it can be counted by mistake. You can also add sales from Sale History screenshots in the Ledger. Items you buy or craft from your plan are watched automatically, and you can add any other item by name in My listings. Screenshots of your retainers' Markets window are optional, for loading many listings at once.
Ledger
Your real results: profit per item after tax, how long things take to sell, stock that has been stuck for a week or more, and a chart of when your world buys the most, in your local time.
Discord alerts
Gilwise can message you in Discord when something sells or someone undercuts you. It checks every 20 minutes, even when the site is closed. Set it up in Settings under Discord alerts; there is an eight-step guide right there.
Questions
- Is Gilwise free?
- Yes, during early access.
- Is this allowed?
- Gilwise is a fan-made tool. It reads public market data from Universalis and never interacts with the game client. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Square Enix.
- Why does a price differ from what I see in game?
- The board may have changed since a player last uploaded it. Check the "board seen" age on the card.
- Why did a sale not show up?
- Sale detection needs fresh board data for that item. Opening the item on the market board in game helps, or add the sale from a Sale History screenshot.
- How do I delete my data?
- Settings, then Your data, then Delete my account. Everything is removed.
